Beets, beets, good for your, everything!
Seriously, i'm not kidding you, beets have so many wonderful health benefits, so here are just a couple that I think are important to mention. They help the liver in the detoxification process, meaning all of the toxins that you voluntarily put in your body as well as the environmental ones, your liver needs the nutrients from these little beets to get rid of those toxins. If you do not provide your body with detoxification nutrients the liver will become overloaded and that is when disease can set in.
Great anti-inflammatory benefits, when you lower inflammation in the body you have less acidity overall and less chance of disease being able to take over.
Anti-Cancer benefits, because of the high amount of antioxidants and phytonutrients in beets they are a great addition to helping fight cancer.
Beets are high in Folate, when beets are eaten in the raw form, folate can support the health of expecting mothers. It also supports proper cell and nerve production.
Cardiovascular health, healthy heart is the best start!
Vitamin C, supports the immune system to fight off virus's and bacteria.
How and When To Buy Them?
Beets are best from summer to winter. Purchase these wonderful little vegetables hard, if they are soft they are old and not so tasty. I try to buy small to medium size beets, they seem to be the sweetest and I prefer a variety of colours. I also like to eat the greens of the beets so when you buy smaller beets the greens tend to be sweeter and more tender.
